JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with departmental associates and management. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Demonstrates the ability to speak, write and present clearly. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. Demonstrates an expectation that there will be ongoing shifts in demands and priorities. Demonstrates the ability to respond to change. Describes opportunities for taking initiative in the organization. Demonstrates an ability to meet own responsibilities.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Assist the Sanford PROMISE K-12 Education and Outreach Team by creating and teaching basic research and science experimentation following established protocols. The intern will also assist the team in event planning and attendance at local and regional events for Sanford PROMISE. Performs routine lab and equipment maintenance, such as cleaning glassware, counter tops, and equipment. Maintains lab chemical and equipment inventory and may be responsible for calibration of instruments. Sets-up and operates various scientific apparatus and creates equipment sets for sharing with regional schools. Assists with research projects, tours, and student visits as directed. Properly documents procedural actions as well as results. Reads current literature and procedures as directed by PROMISE staff. Maintains records of visits and analyzes basic data that result from outreach programming. Basic level knowledge of laboratory procedures required. Requires time management and organizational skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. Ability to present science content in an exciting enthusiastic way to students aged 3-20 is expected. Event attendance is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Candidate must be knowledgeable in science, technology, engineering, and math content and topics. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication ability. Must be able to commit to the hours scheduled during days, evenings, and some weekends. Must be a Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Science Education, Education, Computer Science, Marketing, or related field.
