Terex Corporation Facilities Manager in Watertown, South Dakota

Terex Utilities is a truck equipment final stage manufacturer of digger derricks, aerial devices and associated equipment for the utility industry,municipals, telecommunications and tree contractor markets.

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for the overall management and continuous improvement of the facilities and maintenance functions. They will be responsible for ensuring the facilities are safe, up to code, and fully operational. The facilities manager will also be responsible for managing contractors, training new team members, and working with third party vendors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide for a safe and efficient work environment for Team Members

  • Supervise custodial services for interior office areas, public areas, cafeterias and restrooms

  • Oversee suppliers for provision of infrastructure maintenance and augment custodial services

  • Communicate regularly with customers to assess and improve facilities conditions

  • Maintain and improve exterior landscaping, grounds maintenance and parking lots

  • Provide input for consolidated purchasing of janitorial and maintenance supplies

  • Supervise movement and installation furnishings and building interior office areas, support ergonomic efforts of GENIE Safety Professionals

  • Develop and oversee security efforts, interface with suppliers and customers to assure a safe and secure workplace

  • Review security reports, supervise foot patrol and security assurance personnel, review video surveillance as required

  • Interface with local law enforcement and conduct incident investigations

  • Identify safe and effective means of reducing overall costs and increasing value to customers and Team Members, as well as Terex stockholders

  • To lead, manage and review the facilities and maintenance teams

  • To repair and maintain the company buildings, equipment and roadway infrastructure for the location

  • Project management of new and existing buildings and facilities including building control and local authority liaison and application administration and working with both internal and external contractors.

  • To prepare, forecast, manage and review the Facilities budgets on a monthly and annual basis

  • To maintain/upkeep the hire and purchase of company fleets, forklifts, lorries and any other material movement devices and mechanisms.

  • To make recommendations to the Directors for capital expenditures to assist the company growth whilst ensuring adherence to Government legislations at all times.

  • To ensure the delivery of all health, safety and environmental plans to ensure compliance with legislation as well as Terex business requirements

  • Insurance certificate management and communication with risk management (Global Risk Console)

  • To carry out any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience supervising facilities maintenance activities

  • HS Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma process management

  • Knowledgeable in Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC/R systems

  • Four year college degree

  • Experience with service to an economically and culturally diverse customer base

  • Proven ability in conflict resolution and in developing win-win environments

  • Background in environmental and/or health and safety services

  • Demonstrated ability to build a constructive work environment for a highly diverse Team

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently indoors and outdoors

  • Frequent exposure to loud noise levels

  • Physical requirements of the job are classified as medium to heavy. Medium to heavy work is defined as exerting 20 to 100 pounds of force occasionally (0-2.5 hrs/day); and/or 25 to 40 pounds of force frequently (2.5-5.5 hrs/day); and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly (5.5+ hrs/day) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of light work.

  • Atmospheric exposure to dust and vapors.
